Question by Chris P: Any good comic book suggestions?
I am new to the whole comic book scene and don’t know what to buy. I am going to be using the “Comics” app for my ipad to download them. Not childish comics, more action and gore is preferred. Any decent DC, Marvel or other comics suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

‘The Ultimates’, ‘Kick-Ass’, ‘Superior’, ‘Booster Gold’, ‘Avengers/Avengers Unconquered’, ‘Wolverine & Deadpool’, ‘Fear Itself’ and ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ are all very good in my opinion.
Those are close to the type you suggested, however I am unsure as to whether you can get them on the ‘Comics’ app. -

If you want something more mature, then you’ll want Marvel Knight, or more likely, IMAX; Ultimate can be somewhat, but not much…all “associated with the Marvel brand.” I strongly suggest the Punisher books! No real “powers,” but it is NOT for kids, as you see Frank Castle blowing up various “common criminals,” and just plain gunning them down. Very graphic.
I would also suggest DC’s Vertigo. Very mature, as well, such as Hellblazer or Sandman. 100 Bullets is also good, in 13 trade back books.
Image’s SPAWN has been a fave, just haven’t been able to keep up with it.
